The professorship for Applied Computer Science in the Humanities (HKI) at the University at Cologne sees "preservation" as one of its main fields of work.
In the past this lead to an engagement in a number of European projects like Delos and Planets.
Currently the focus is on the establishment of a major distributed regional preservation system (DANRW).
We plan to connect these directions of research by integrating some of the experimental results of earlier research projects into massive working preservation environments.
Parallel to this current focus, the results of the Planets project produced at Cologne have been generalized to support both, emulation as well as migration, in cooperation with the University of Portsmouth.
